May 18: Pink Sunday - The Shreveport Bossier Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and local churches present Pink Sunday a grassroots effort with local churches to educate the members of their respective congregations on breast health and breast cancer. This effort is to address the high breast cancer mortality rate among women in the ten parish service area of the Shreveport Bossier Affiliate. To participate in this event or for more information, please call Affiliate Education Chair, Kedgy Larson of Fitness Lady at (318) 747-1897 or Danielle Voumard, Affiliate Executive Director at (318) 220-7050 before Friday May 2, 2008. Packets will be available for pick-up at the Komen affiliate office at 960 Sheridan on Friday, May 2nd from 10:00 to 4:00 and at Fitness Lady on Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please call to schedule alternative times. May 24: Extreme Cowboy Challenge - Extreme Cowboy Challenge presented by Circle C Cowboy Church, Henderson, Texas. An obstacle course designed to test the skills of both horse and rider. Entire Family Fun Day. Also will be having a Kids Mock Rodeo, Cowboy Camp Stew Cook-off, Youth Auction, Cowboy Poetry, Live Music and a special Appearance by Nashville Star Casey Rivers. May 31: Scholarship Banquet - The Olliw Wimberly, III Scholarship Foundation will host their 1st Annual Scholarship Banquet at 7 pm at the Morning Star Life Center in Shreveport. The foundation offers scholarships to promising students within a 150-mile radius of the Shreveport-Bossier area. The banquet is open to the public and donations are apprecieated.
