Mardi Gras arrives in Shreveport-Bossier City
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The 2012 Mardi Gras season is officially underway in Shreveport - Bossier.
From now through Fat Tuesday, which falls on Tuesday, Feb. 21, locals and visitors visitors and locals alike can enjoy at least five parades and several other special events, organizers said.
The major parades for Shreveport - Bossier:
The Krewe of Cotton, February 4th
The Krewe of Centaur, February 11th
The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux, February 12th
The Krewe of Gemini, February 18th
The Krewe of Highland, February 19th
The Krewe of Aesclepius Children's Parade, February 21st
Organizers of this year's parades say both the Krewe of Centaur and the Krewe of Gemini parades will roll at 4 p.m. following a route that includes Clyde Fant Parkway along the Shreveport riverfront, Shreveport-Barksdale Highway, and East King's Highway.
The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux is a popular pet parade that's scheduled to roll through downtown Shreveport starting at 1:30 p.m.
The Krewe of Highland parade will roll through Shreveport's Highland neighborhood. The family-friendly parade begins at 2 p.m.
And wrapping up the 2012 Mardi Gras season in Shreveport - Bossier, The Krewe of Aesclepius Children's Parade, a parade geared towards families and children, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Pierre Bossier Mall, 2950 E. Texas Street in Bossier City.

Bassmaster Classic 2012 Daily Weigh-Ins
The action is on the water, but the excitement IS at the weigh-in! Each afternoon, the anglers will come to the CenturyLink Center to weigh-in their catch in front of a packed crowd. On Sunday, February 26, the Classic winner will be crowned and will take home the $500,000 first place prize!
